Last Tuesday morning we enjoyed a special visit from philanthropists Dick Smith and his wife Pip at our Newtown centre.
In 2018, Dick was awarded our Australian Father of the Year Award and earlier this year attended the ceremony for our 2019 Shepherd Centre Australian Father of the Year announcement.
Dick and Pip are strong supporters of The Shepherd Centre and during their visit learned how their funding has helped provide early intervention programs to hearing-impaired children.
The highlight of their visit was meeting some of our children and families during Kidscape and hearing firsthand the life-changing difference The Shepherd Centre makes for children with hearing loss and their families.
Dick and Pip also got to see how we support children from remote and regional communities via our Interactive Online Services and met with therapist Danielle Lam, who oversees out outreach services.
Dick also had a great time learning more about the cochlear implant, an Australian invention, and getting his hearing tested.
Thank you to all who made Dick and Pip’s visit a wonderfully memorable one for both of them.
