Four ways The Shepherd Centre is supporting non-English speakers

13 Jan 2020

Do you speak a language other than English?

At The Shepherd Centre, we are committed to supporting families from all cultural backgrounds.

We understand that it may be difficult to understand our services if you are new to Australia or English is not your home language.

Here are several ways The Shepherd Centre can support you:

  1. Use the gTranslate tool at the bottom left-hand side of the website. By clicking the drop-down menu the website will translate into your choice of Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), Korean, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese.
  2. We can organise translation services for all of our meetings. If you are looking for our support, contact us and let us know you require a translator.
  3. We encourage family members who may be more proficient in English to join our sessions, either in person or by our Interactive Online Services.
  4. We employ staff from a variety of cultural backgrounds, who can be made available to support you and your family through The Shepherd Centre.

Lastly, our therapy can be utilised to teach your child English as well as your home language. See how Renata is teaching her three sons with hearing loss, Portuguese and English.
