Supporting us in our time of need.
The Shepherd Centre is truly grateful to the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund in partnership with Hands Across Canberra, who has supported us in our time of need. With the advent of coronavirus, the staff at The Shepherd Centre knew our services for babies and children with hearing loss were too crucial to be delayed.
A delay in specialist audiology and speech therapy services for a child who is deaf can mean a delay in that child’s speech for the rest of their lives.
In order to meet the needs of the hundreds of families currently in our service, The Shepherd Centre quickly pivoted to all-online service delivery via our existing Online Telehealth System that had been servicing rural and remote families for 10 years.
This came at a huge resource cost to our organisation, at a time when all of our major fundraising events and capabilities had been cancelled.
Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund in partnership with Hands Across Canberra heeded our call for help. Their grant has enabled us to provide telehealth services for all of our families in ACT, ensuring that every child receives the crucial support they need.
Thank you Hands Across Canberra!
