No Waitlist policy
The Shepherd Centre has a “No Waitlist” policy for Early intervention programs for babies and toddlers. Contact us today to discuss your child’s treatment.
The first two years of life are a critical time for a child’s speech and language development. Undetected or untreated hearing loss during this period can greatly affect a child’s ability to connect with others.
Programs for children with hearing loss can begin as soon as a child is diagnosed, in this case, the sooner really is the better. Starting a program as soon as possible gives your child the best start for school and beyond.
Whether your child has a confirmed hearing loss, your baby has received a “refer” result (or did not pass result) from the Newborn Hearing Screening (sometimes called the ‘SWISH Test’), or you’re concerned about your child’s hearing and need advice, we’re here to help.
The Shepherd Centre sees children from as little as one or two weeks old up to 18 years of age. The most important part is that you contact us as soon as you find out that your child has hearing loss or when you suspect that your child may have hearing loss.
We offer hearing loss programs and services tailored to support the needs of infants, toddlers, school-age children and teenagers.
We offer our services in-person and online support throughout in NSW, Tasmania, and the ACT. Please fill out the form, and we’ll help you find the centre closest to you.
The Shepherd Centre is a registered NDIS service provider and we have a wealth of experience helping many families go through the NDIS planning process. We’re here to help your child access the NDIS supports they need.
To ensure we can remain committed to early intervention and supporting family and children in need, the cost of our services is covered in part by the NDIS and the remainder is contributed via the generous support of our donors. Our families are not out of pocket if they have an approved NDIS plan. The Shepherd Centre works on an outcomes-based model where we provide the necessary supports required for each child and family to achieve the best possible outcomes regardless of the level of NDIS funding they have been provided.
90% of children with hearing loss are born to hearing parents. With modern technologies and speech therapy techniques children with hearing loss can achieve remarkable results and depending on their condition can reach the same level of speech and language as their hearing peers.
