FEEL THE DIFFERENCE
On the first Wednesday in April we hosted our first ever LIVE crowdfunding event at Sydney’s ASX.
It was a highly memorable experience that is sure to stick with our guests long after the evening is over. If you we’re unable to attend the event you can watch each of the pitches here:
Professor Jim Patrick AO, one of the original engineers who pioneered the development of the cochlear implant, welcomed the crowd before all settled in to an inspirational evening where three passionate members of The Shepherd Centre team, Stephanie, Rebecca and Anne, had six minutes to ‘pitch’ on a project they are passionate about.
The audience were able to ask questions of each presenter, to understand more about each program and qualify it’s importance to children with hearing loss.
What followed was a truly electric live crowding session led by our experienced Master of Ceremonies James Valentine from ABC Radio. Guests could get behind a project from as little as $100, but the sky was the limit! Pledges we’re made relating to postcodes, guests who had limited musical ability and at one stage our MC’s fancy tie was up for grabs! An inspiring evening that was certainly a LOT of fun.
On the night pledges totalled over $70, 000! However there is still time to get involved. As Stephanie points out in her pitch, for every child The Shepherd Centre provides services for, there is another child with hearing loss that goes without any intervention. By making a tax deductible donation today, we can support even more children who are hearing impaired and their families.
We would like to thank our gracious hosts the ASX for providing the fantastic venue and cocktail party for the evening.
