The Shepherd Centre is delighted to congratulate our Board Chair, Susan Turner-Kapsanis, on her appointment as a Non-Executive Director of the Hearing Australia Board. 

Susan has served on The Shepherd Centre’s Board since 2015 and has brought thoughtful leadership, care and strong governance to her role as Chair. 

Susan’s connection to hearing health is deeply personal. After the birth of her triplets, her son Alex was diagnosed with significant hearing loss and became the first baby detected under the SWISH program in NSW. This experience gave Susan a unique understanding of the journey families can face when navigating hearing loss and has shaped her commitment to supporting better outcomes for people with hearing loss. 

Alongside this personal connection, Susan brings extensive legal and governance experience. She began her legal career with leading Wall Street law firm Milbank, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Environmental Law and was admitted to the legal profession in the Supreme Court of NSW in 1998. 

Susan’s appointment to the Hearing Australia Board recognises the unique perspective she brings, shaped by both her professional background and lived experience of hearing loss. 

Hearing Australia Board Chair Elizabeth Crouch AM welcomed Susan’s appointment, noting that Susan’s leadership and understanding of the experiences of Australians with hearing loss would be a valuable contribution to Hearing Australia’s work.
