Class of 2025: Ready for Big School

2025 was a milestone moment for The Shepherd Centre – 53 children completed our early intervention programs, ready to step confidently into their first year of primary school this year.

Research consistently demonstrates that children who complete our early intervention programs achieve listening and spoken language skills on par with their hearing peers.

Last year, more than 9 in 10 Early Intervention families told us The Shepherd Centre has made a positive difference — most often describing feeling supported, growing in confidence, and more confident as they learn how to support their child’s development – a testament to the quality of care and the dedication of our families. These programs make all the difference. As one mother shared: “I was terrified about the transition to school. But because of The Shepherd Centre, my daughter walked in on day one ready to take on the world.”

As Chloe settles into kindergarten, she has grown a fondness for dancing and making friends! She confidently teaches her teachers how to use her Roger FM microphone system and is excited about all the learning ahead. “She doesn’t feel like there’s anything she can’t do,” her mum Brittany shares. – Chloe

Aaron loves basketball, music and swimming. He has started school excited to play with his friends in the schoolyard and wear his new school uniform. Whilst his mum Rachel is both excited and worried about the transition to school, she knows the speaking and listening skills he learned at The Shepherd Centre will help him to shine in the classroom. – Aaron

Since starting school, Norah has enjoyed learning to play new sports and making new friends. The communication and social skills developed through programs like Confident Kids serve Norah well every day at school. “I’m so proud to see how much she has grown” reflects her mum, Judy. – Norah
