The Shepherd Centre In Hobart Welcomes Families Back Following Centre Upgrades

The Shepherd Centre in Hobart is delighted to welcome children and families back this week, following the recent completion of internal upgrades.

The refreshed space has been thoughtfully redesigned to create a warm, inclusive, and family-friendly environment where listening, learning, and connection can flourish. As a leading provider of early intervention services for children with hearing loss in Tasmania, including audiology and listening and spoken language therapy, it’s important that our physical spaces reflect the same quality and care as the services we deliver.

New Audiology Booth Strengthens Local Hearing Services

A highlight of the upgrade is the installation of a dedicated audiology booth, made possible thanks to the generosity of Ms vonne Le Fort. This purpose-built space enhances our ability to deliver high-quality audiology services on site, providing children and families in Hobart with more seamless access to hearing assessments and ongoing support.

By expanding our in-centre audiology capabilities, we can continue to provide integrated, family-centred hearing services that support deaf children to develop strong listening, language and literacy skills.

Supporting the Hobart Community

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hansen Yuncken for their continued support of this project. Their strong community focus and commitment to engaging local Hobart businesses ensured that the upgrades not only enhanced our centre, but also contributed to the wider Tasmanian community.

We would like to acknowledge and thank all the consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, donors, and supporters who contributed to this project. Their combined effort has made this transformation possible and is a wonderful reflection of the Hobart community coming together to help children with hearing loss thrive, learn, and reach their full potential.
